My name is Candace James. I am the Office Manager/Dental Assistant at Family Dentistry. I have been with Dr. Meyers since 1997. I earned my certificate as a Certified Dental Assistant in 1987. Working in the front office and in the clinical area allows me to enjoy the best of both worlds.
I am always seeking ways to improve my skills by taking at least 12 hours of continuing educationeach year along with the required health care CPR/First Aid/AED training. I also stay abreast of the current OSHA/WISHA/HIPPA training issues and the current trends in dentistry.
I am married and have two grown sons, Casey and Shaun, two beautiful daughters-in-law, Aaron and Shara, and three grandsons, Michael, Gavin, and Brett. I also have two horses, Spring and Dusty, and a cat, Ellie. My hobbies are riding horses, water tubing, and spending time with my family. My favorite time of the year is summer, because I love the water and being outdoors.
My name is Mary Hoover, and I am the dental hygienist in our office. I have a long-time interest in dentistry, earning my dental assisting certificate in 1974, and my dental hygiene degree and license in 1984. I have worked with Dr. Meyers since he arrived in Longview in 1995.
I have been married to Jim Hoover since 1974. Our daughter, Kari, and son-in-law, John, serve in the US Army. We currently host two dogs and two cats who graciously allow us to live with them.
In addition to my work as a dental hygienist, I maintain the roses at the office (stop by and smell them!) and at the Longview Public Library. I am a rose judge and consulting rosarian through the American Rose Society. I relax by riding my bicycle and knitting, although not usually at the same time.
